Bridges and Towers
Who can design and build the bridge that can hold the most grams of load per gram of bridge? First we examined the various types of real bridges. Teams of students used Bridge Bucks to purchase paper, cardboard, tape and string, and to rent clamps to hold pieces together while any glue dried. The next week we tested those bridges. While the majority of the bridges held the maximum load, grams, one bridge made by Lucas and Lila held an amazing 2__ __ grams per gram of bridge!
While teams waited for their time to test they built free standing towers from a few cardboard strips, wooden dowels, and brass brads. Sydney and Halas created the tallest tower, an impressive 51 inches tall!
