Why are free floating bubbles spherical? What shape encloses a given volume with the smallest surface area? We first discussed the five Platonic solids: tetrahedron, cube, octahedron, dodecahedron, and isocahedron. Then we built structures using Zometool components to dip into a soap solution. We made some pretty amazing, non-sperical bubbles!
The last few minutes were spent experimenting with Moebius strips, an introduction to the science of Topology. We cut one flip loops at Science Club; what will happen when you cut loops with two, or even three flips?
